Surface Finishes
(Urethanes, Polyurethanes, Swedish Finishes)
Wood floors finished with a
surface finish should be dry mopped with an untreated dustmop or
vacuumed regularly. It is important to keep dirt and grit off the
floor, so scatter rugs should be placed at entrances. For kitchen
wood floors, it is also helpful to place scatter rugs in front of
the sink and stove. |
|
|
| Depending on the activity
in your home, your surface finish may require a weekly cleaning
with a wood floor cleaner. It is always best to use the
manufacturers' recommended cleaner. |
| However, if the
manufacturer is not known, use a generic floor cleaner available
at your local retail floor store. |
| As with anything, normal
wear over a period of time will gradually wear down your finish.
You may notice that normal cleaning does not restore the luster
the floor once had. |
| This means it is time to
recoat the floor. Contact an NWFA dealer or contractor in your
area. If you are unable to find one, call NWFA headquarters
and we'll point you in the right direction. |
