If your fiberglass pool has been damaged, it can be repaired, and if the repair is made properly, it will be as strong as the original structure. The repair can be blended into the surface so that it does not show. When gel coat is applied, the repair should be almost invisible other than some color variation.

If a major crack develops in a fiberglass pool and the pool is loosing water, steps should be taken immediately to stop the water loss. When a leak is allowed to continue, the water can accumulate under and around the pool. Depending on the type of soil, the water can cause the soil to loose its ability to support the pool resulting in further damage. You should contact your contractor or local pool service company to stop the leak. If you choose to do it yourself, get some two part epoxy putty for underwater use and apply it to the crack. Work the putty into the crack to seal off the leak. Do not drain the pool. Draining the pool could allow the water under the pool to push the bottom up resulting in severe damage. When the ground is saturated it makes it very difficult to drain the pool when it comes time to make a permanent repair. Once the leak has been stopped, locate a fiberglass pool repair professional to make a permanent repair.

Small chips and scratches in the gel coat finish can be repaired with little difficulty. If you want to do it yourself, see gel coat repair in the technical manuals section.

Continental Pool Works has extensive experience in solving pool problems and repairing fiberglass.
