Do it yourself installation

Water weighs about 8 ½ pounds per gallon. This equates to an 85,000 pound load sitting inside a 10,000 gallon pool. Although a fiberglass pool has considerable strength, it is not strong enough to carry that kind of load by itself. Because of this, the back fill sand and supporting soil must bear a large portion of the load. If the pool set and back fill are not done properly, the pool structure may settle or fail. Because of this many fiberglass pool manufacturers require an approved installer to assist with a do it yourself pool installation in order to qualify for the factory warranty. The assistance may be limited to being on the job site while the pool is set and back filled (one or two days). Continental Pool Works is available for this type of assistance.
